TRUST Sweet Iron Baucher Hanging Cheek Eliptical Bit

The TRUST Sweet Iron Baucher Hanging Cheek Elliptical Bit is an excellent choice for horses that tend to be fussy, unsettled, or overly mouthy. The Baucher (or hanging cheek) design offers the stability of a fixed cheek with the soft, guiding feel of an eggbutt, helping sensitive horses relax and focus on the rider’s aids.

Despite common misconceptions, the Baucher is not a leverage bit and does not create poll pressure. Instead, the suspended cheekpiece helps “hold” the mouthpiece in a quiet, consistent position, which can be especially beneficial for horses that prefer a steadier connection or become anxious with too much movement at the cheek.

The elliptical (double‑jointed) mouthpiece provides gentle, even pressure across the tongue and bars, improving communication without creating a nutcracker effect. Baucher cheeks also offer a touch of lateral guidance, similar to a mild full cheek, making this bit a versatile option for a wide range of horses.

Crafted from TRUST’s signature Sweet Iron, the mouthpiece features the recognizable blue finish that naturally oxidizes when exposed to air and moisture. This light surface rust tastes sweet to the horse, encouraging increased salivation and promoting a softer, more accepting mouth.

The balance between shape, material and weight is constantly taken into account. TRUST bits are slightly curved so that they are better shaped towards the horse’s mouth. Because of this anatomical shape, the bit lies better in the mouth and the pressure is better distributed.

How to read TRUST metric sizing: 
The first measurement is diameter (in mm) while the second measurement is mouthpiece size (in cm). Example = 15mm/12.5cm.
