TRUST Sweet Iron Eggbutt Eliptical Gag

Designed for strong horses that pull, the TRUST Sweet Iron Eggbutt Eliptical Gag bit helps to encourage the horse to keep its head up. This bit is often used with two reins, one on the bit itselt and one set of reins on the “gag cheeks” for immediate action. Used mainly in jumpers and cross country, the sliding gag action keeps the horse lighter on the front end, allowing the rider to balance on approach more effectively.

 
The eliptical mouthpiece is a double-jointed mouthpiece and is sometimes called a peanut or lozenge. This mouthpiece primarily works on the tongue with a rounded eliptical effect, and to a lesser degree on the bars. 

 
The Sweet Iron bits are made of steel and have a recognizable blue color. Sweet Iron will rust when it comes into contact with (air) humidity, the surface rust tastes sweet and naturally stimulates the saliva production. This will cause the horse to salivate more, which in turn will encourage a better acceptance of the bit. The process of rusting (oxidation) changes the blue color of the TRUST bits to a brownish-grey. This is the desired effect of the Sweet Iron bits. If a Sweet Iron bit is not used for a while, an orange-brown rust layer may form on the mouthpiece. Simply remove this by wiping the bit with a damp cloth.

How to read TRUST metric sizing: 
The first measurement is diameter (in mm) while the second measurement is mouthpiece size (in cm). Example = 15mm/12.5cm.
